How to Install a Wireless Network Interface

    • 1). Turn your computer completely off and then reach behind the case and pull out the power cable. Pull out all of the cables connected to the computer's peripheral devices such as a printer, keyboard, monitor, or mouse.

    • 2). Pull the entire computer case out of its current location and set it down on a flat work surface with its left side facing upward. Check the top and bottom of the back end of the case and see if there is a metal latch, a plastic thumbscrew, or two case screws.

    • 3). Disconnect the side panel from the case by pulling out on the latch, twisting the thumbscrew, or removing the case screws. Push the panel away from the case and then pull it off completely.

    • 4). Check to see if there is already a wired network interface card installed in one of the PCI expansion slots. Remove the screws holding the card in place. Then pull it out of the card slot.

    • 5). Push the wireless network interface card into the PCI card slot. Attach the screws in to hold the card in place.

    • 6). Put the side panel back onto the case. Reconnect it to the case by pushing down on the latch, twisting the thumbscrew, or putting the case screws back in. Put the computer back in its normal location and reconnect all of the cables to the back of the case.
