- 1). Open your FTP software, then log into your Web hosting account. This should log into your Web hosting account and load the root directory of the domain hosting account. Typically, there will be several files, including an "index" file -- such as "index.html," "index.php" or "index.aspx."
- 2). Make a note of all of the files in the root directory. Check and note the attributes of the files, such as the "Last modified" attribute.
- 3). Double-click on the directory of the subdomain. Analyze the contents of the directory and check if these contents are identical to the contents present in the root directory. For example, if the "Last modified" attributes in the subdomain directory contents are identical to the contents of the root directory, then this is good evidence of duplicate content.
- 4). Upload fresh and original content to the subdomain directory. This will ensure that the subdomain has original content.
