You almost always know what you're getting when you buy a Ping driver. The company delivers solid driver after solid driver. The Ping Rapture V2 line is starting to show up on the internet. And the PING G15 Driver is no exception.
The G15 falls in the middle of the pricing pack. Ping offers the Rapture V2 in a higher price point although many people we talk to question if the Rapture is worth the extra money. If the G15's price tag is still too steep, you might want to consider the Ping G10.
The G15 is a bit underwhelming to loOK at but it's tough to argue with it's performance. If you are stuck on loOKs and want something that will "wow" your buddies, go and get a TaylorMade Burner Super Fast. The G15's large footprint should help inspire confidence in some but it's not overwhelming enough to scare away those concerned with loOKs.
The G15 is offered in a Draw head but if you're longing for weights and wrenches⦠loOK elsewhere. Ping offers a boatload of custom shaft options in this club and a certified Ping fitter will help you find the right one. The stock shafts offered in the G15 are OK but still fall a bit behind those offered in similar drivers. You need to get the G15 driver fitted so you're only hurting yourself if you buy from off the rack.
I was able to test the PING Rapture V2 Driver [http://www.golfsaleaustralia.com/PING-Rapture-V2-Driver-for-sale-95.html] with the stock 939 shaft. Using a Bushnell Medalist rangefinder, I could closely approximate my distances. Overall, using a Bridgestone B-330S ball for control, I found the V2 to be about 5-8 yards longer on similarly struck drives up against Ping's G10 driver. The loft on both drivers was 10.5 degrees and the flex was stiff on both.
With a shaft weight of 47 grams and a 45.75-inch finished length, this makes the V2 one of the lightest and longest drivers on the market. Making a cameo in this sequel is the stock upgrade of a Mitsubishi Diamana Blueboard shaft. At 63 grams, this ultra-premium shaft lowers spin and launch for players who want a little beefier shaft than the 939.
All in all, Ping keeps cranking out quality drivers and the PING G15 Driver [http://www.golfsaleaustralia.com/PING-G15-Driver-for-sale-93.html] is no different. Ping engineers have captured the hot face of the G10 and the solid sound and feel of the original Rapture and put it into the V2 package.
