- 1). Attend church socials. Churches tend to be the social center of many small towns. Attending pot-luck dinners, showcased entertainment and bake sales at churches is a good way to meet men in your community. Most of the men who are willing to attend these functions are not the same guys you find in bars--an added plus.
- 2). Volunteer. Small towns, like larger towns, always welcome volunteers for food and clothing drives, carnivals and craft shows. See if your firehouse could use your culinary skills. Let's face it, you don't exactly find a lot of women there. Offer your talents and services to programs that help others--you will find men who are doing the same. One word of advice: Be genuinely interested in the cause you volunteer for, or you will find yourself discouraged quickly.
- 3). Attend the Chamber of Commerce meetings. You will meet men in your community who have goals, business sense and a vested interest in their town. Wear your best business casual, and carry your business cards. (You can make your own with most computer programs.) Have them ready to pass out, and don't be afraid to ask for his or to call the number on it.
- 4). Begin your day with cup of coffee. Your small-town diner is the hub of social life before the workday is in full force. Start your morning with breakfast at the small restaurants and diners popular among the residents. Don't be shy about sitting next to the interesting guy eating flapjacks at the counter. Starting up a conversation with him could be the start of a beautiful day--and also a beautiful new life.
