Dress to Impress
- "Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised" (Proverbs 18:22). Set the tone of the retreat using this Bible verse to encourage women to dress from the inside out. Focus the retreat on beauty--both inside and out--and how it affects their everyday lives. Create a discussion that asks why women focus on their looks, and how that affects their lives and personality. Finish the retreat with a conversation with the women about how God sees us as pure, not hidden behind clothing and makeup.
Rise & Shine
- Invite new members to partake in a fitness boot camp to jump-start their renewed life with God. Women enjoy participating in group activities where they can meet new friends, discuss fears, share stories and gather motivation to defeat obstacles. Offer women an adrenaline rush with obstacle courses, pushing fitness limits and feeling good about themselves. Create a discussion about life and moving forward by using this verse from Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
Lemons into Lemonade
- Gather the single women who have been through trying times--divorce, breakups or death. Create a retreat that focuses on taking the bad times and making them into good times with the theme of turning lemons into lemonade. Base the retreat on the verse from Psalm 30:11, "You turned my wailing into dancing, you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy." Have the women write down their fears or troubles on lemon cutouts, and have them declare one by one how they will turn their lemon into lemonade.
- Set up a creative outlet for Christian women by having a scrapbooking retreat. Scrapbooking is the art of creating personalized, one-of-a-kind books of memories containing photos and other keepsakes. Base the retreat on Joshua 24:15: "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." Have the women bring their books and supplies and use their fellowship to help one another complete pages of their memory books. Working together, talking and reminiscing about past memories are ways to increase friendship and forge bonds.
